Daniel with his rope 'snake'

At his best!
Sunday 6th May 2012
Sunday night and we're just relaxing after a wonderful but tiring weekend.
Friday afternoon, and with the rain tumbling from the sky we feared the worse for the eagerly awaited visit from Damon and Daniel. It was still precipitating when they arrived at about 2.30,  and continued until about 6ish. After that we didn't see any at all over the rest of the weekend.
Saturday morning we set off westward to find the winding hole in order to turn around and head back towards a pub called The Red Lion which got a good write-up in the guide as having both a kids indoor and outdoor play area and food all day. We arrived about 12.00 and found the one mooring for the pub was luckily free so we tied up and went in for lunch. The indoor play area went down a treat with Danny, and food went down well with us. The rest of the day was spent lazing around.
This morning we chugged into Parbold, where there is another place to turn around, and headed back for Burscough. The afternoon was a hectic one for me, chasing Danny around the lovely wharf area, trying to tire him out. After an hour of this and, of course, an ice cream we retired to the boat where he promptly fell asleep, as was the plan.
After tea Damon and Dan left for home and we have collapsed into heaps with a glass of wine each, heaven.
